A modular pole assembled from stacked sections stands in a paved public plaza at dusk, with a glowing light ring, camera housings, sensor nodes and an EV charging unit along its column.

Landscape Forms has relaunched SHUFFLE, a modular pole system that consolidates Wi-Fi, cameras, sensors, two-way communications and electric-vehicle charging into a single vertical structure. The company frames the relaunch as a response to rising customer expectations in public spaces, where single-purpose pole-mounted sensors, cameras, lighting and connectivity equipment are being added to sites where space is at a premium.

According to Landscape Forms, demand for thoughtfully designed, fully integrated, multi-function infrastructure has grown as municipalities, campuses and commercial developers look for ways to expand site functionality without adding visual clutter or extra cost. SHUFFLE is presented as a direct answer to that requirement, bringing advanced capabilities together in one adaptable system that the company says is easy to activate and install.

Modular components and configuration

The system's modular components are designed to allow customization and future adaptability, while the integrated design is intended to bring modern aesthetics and efficiencies to busy, multi-use environments. Because the capabilities are modular, the platform is described as something that can be updated as a site's needs change rather than replaced outright. Landscape Forms has also added a new build feature to its website to simplify configuration; clients can specify preferred camera and technology brands and choose among a range of options within each.

"This is the solution site designers have been waiting for," said Shannon Lee, business development manager for smart poles at Schréder. Lee said SHUFFLE was designed to fit the needs of busy public spaces with product and feature sets that can be updated as site requirements evolve, and that safety and connectivity are integrated into outdoor spaces without dominating them, keeping the system accessible and user friendly.

New plug-and-play options

The relaunch adds feature options built around plug-and-play simplicity:

  • A 360-degree area light and a decorative light ring
  • A 180-degree area light
  • Quad-view and 180-degree cameras
  • Motion sensors
  • Loudspeaker and intercom modules

Landscape Forms says the modular design can be configured for both specialized environments and general public spaces, providing an added measure of security and convenience wherever people gather to work, travel, study or recreate. The company lists university and business campuses, airports and commuting hubs, shopping malls and tourist areas, concert halls, city parks, sports venues and hospitals among the settings the system is intended to serve.

"SHUFFLE represents exactly the kind of thinking our industry needs: technology and design working together to make outdoor spaces safer and smarter without compromising aesthetics," said Jordan Agustin, president of lighting at Landscape Forms. Agustin said the new features and capabilities integrated into the system's streamlined design enhance the beauty and functionality of outdoor space while advancing the company's mission of connecting people to the outdoors and to each other.
