Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, with the implementation intended to extend across both domestic and international cargo operations.

According to IBS Software, the deployment will expand iCargo's capabilities across the carrier's cargo business and support its modernisation programme, covering the full range of its business functions. The platform is expected to handle cargo movements in domestic and international markets, including international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement, and regulatory compliance.

The vendor said iCargo already supports carriers with a comparable combination of demands, providing the flexibility, scale and capabilities to manage domestic and international operations together.

PAL expects the transition to address key operational requirements across its cargo activities, including system performance and data analytics. Planned capabilities include faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, together with reduced manual intervention and more efficient processes.

Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in the modernisation of the airline's cargo business. He said that as the carrier grows across its domestic and international network, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and supports a better customer experience. Siy added that the airline sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and of its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
